Hello, I’m Jayde

Based in Central Western Queensland near the small town of Barcaldine, I live with my husband and four children on a sheep and cattle property.   The urge to create has been incredibly strong since I was a child. I have taken my deep love and connection to our sometimes harsh but incredibly beautiful land and combined it with my passion for bold and joyous colour.  The result is my translation in multilayered, textural works.

Each piece tells a story of a place I have lived in or have visited and loved.  From a shaded, gum lined gully at the back of the property to the hinterland of Byron Bay I try to capture the feeling associated to a place more than its physical representation.

I use a mixture of acrylic, impasto and oil stick on canvas or linen, professionally finished in custom made float frames.

Focusing on the perfection of imperfections I love to highlight every lump and bump through the use of a combination of palette knives and brushes and at times, even my fingers.  With each piece I aim to draw the viewer in allowing them to find something new that they may not had noticed before.

With a background in  interior design I understand the elements of creating a wow factor in a room and have worked with many a client’s desire to tie a space together incorporating both colour matching and contrasting concepts.  Commissions have brought huge personal reward to me and I am proud to have very satisfied customers with several clients coming back for more than one work.
